Aircraft Resources This section lists sites which contain detailed information which could be of use to the modeller. There are thousands of sites dedicated to full-size aircraft. The aim of this section is not to list everything, but to collect together the most useful ones. The images on
these pages are original photographs, taken by Steve de Roeck. They are
low resolution, web versions of the high quality images which are available for
purchase directly from the photographer. Steve is a retired airline
pilot with a keen interest in photography. Both his flying and photography have
taken him all over the world on assignment. There are probably more than
1000 photographs on this site. The nice thing about it is that it isn't full of
the usual Spitfires etc, but includes underrepresented aircraft that may give
you inspiration for your next project.

magazine. It has a lot of useful information and a good events calendar. An incredible resource of
information and photographs of airliners. In-fact many other aircraft are
included as well. This site is a massive
general aircraft related resource list of links. This site contains a set of
illustrated of reports on current full-size activities in the UK. It covers
news items and reports on displays. This is a general site
containing information and pictures for a wide range of aircraft. Worth a look
if you are seeking inspiration for your next project. A great resource providing
substantial details of all the aircraft used by the Fleet Air Arm. This site contains many
sketches of 'glamour girls' that can be used to develop nose art for aircraft
of WWII vintage. This is a large site containing several thousand
pictures. One of the best areas to look in is the pin-up section. Here you will
find the excellent pictures from the famous artist Alberto Vargas. Others in
this section are also worth looking at! This New Zealand site
developed by Phillip Treweek provides a lot of detailed pictures of aircraft
and including detailed "walk arounds". This is a general USA
military site. Of particular interest is the resources section which contains a
comprehensive set of links to USA museums.

Planes and Pilots of World War II This is an interesting US site on aircraft and pilot recounts. This is a real excellent
resource. It contains a great amount of information including drawings, cockpit
details and videos you can download. Also, includes details on the Battle of
Britain Memorial Flight.
This website shows some
remarkable video clips of the Red Bull world series races. It contains a
lot of information for builders of aerobatic models. Watch out though, you must
have a fast internet connection to view this site. SkyCorner A Russian site that has an English version. It has a particularly good selection of detailed drawings of aircraft. These can be downloaded as zip files. This site has approximately 10000 aircraft related links. It is a good resource to start with when searching the web. This is another good site based in the US. The site is structured into reference pages containing details and pictures of warbirds. It also provide links to other sites on the aircraft being examined. This is a collection of seven sites. The best section is the Luftwaffe Resource Group which contains many detailed pictures and specifications. This site has a collection of full-size drawings and documentation that may be of interest to modellers of WWII aircraft. Rosebud's WWI Aviation Image Archive This is a fabulous resource for pictures of early and WWI aircraft. You could spend hours here! There are hundreds of pictures of aeroplanes, some showing horrific crash sites. The links from this site are also very interesting. This is an excellent resource for WWII aircraft. There are many scale detail drawings. See the 'more neat stuff' section for diagrams of cockpit interiors and instrument panels. The site also contains a lot of videos that can be downloaded for free. There are many good links worth exploring.
Museums in UK and Ireland Baldonnel Irish Air Corp Museum Aeroventure - South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum Located at Doncaster, this museum has a good collection of aircraft for the visitor. Battle of Britain Memorial Flight One of the most famous UK based display teams. It is based at RAF Coningsby. The web site has a good collection of photographs of their aircraft. Dedicated to preserving operational examples of historic military jets. Located at Hangar 600, Bournemouth International Airport. The Birthplace of British Motorsport & Aviation. Your chance to fly in a Tiger Moth or Dragon Rapide from Imperial War Museum, Duxford. Worth the visit to just see
the Lancaster in addition to the other attractions at this WWII airfield.
An independent site covering the latest at Duxford. Includes reviews, photographs and videos. This site provides museum information and services details and also lists the aircraft in the large collection. However, the site is not complete and collection details and photos are not yet available. Located at RNAS Yeovilton, Ilchester, Somerset. This Aviation Museum has a unique collection of British Aircraft from the "golden age" of British aircraft manufacture, ie, from the end of WWII until the 1970's. This is the world's largest dedicated helicopter museum. It is located in Weston-Super-Mare. One of, if not, Europe's top aviation museum has a superb collection of historic aircraft. Duxford is not only an excellent centre for historic aviation but also the site of world famous air shows. The Museum is based on one of the sites of Britain's epic struggle in 1940. The airfield was the nearest Royal Air Force station to enemy-occupied France. Today's visitor can still savour the atmosphere of the airfield's past with the landmarks and buildings that remain. This museum is in Coventry.
It houses a good collection of interesting aircraft. This museum at Middle Wallop celebrates over one hundred years of army aviation. It is home to one of the country’s finest historical collections of military kites, the largest collection of military gliders in Europe, aeroplanes and helicopters. A good collection of aircraft and photographs recalling Berkshire's Aviation Heritage. Located in Woodley, (near Reading) Berkshire. A good variety of aircraft can be found at this museum in Scotland at East Fortune Aerodrome. Another good collection of aircraft at this museum in Nottinghamshire. Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial - Manston The site of the RAF Manston History Museum presents some details of the museum, aircraft, exhibits, and displays that illustrate the history of a famous and historic airfield. Located adjacent to London-Manston Airport near Ramsgate, Kent. The twenty-five-acre site in Shropshire is home to one of the best collections of aviation history in the world. It is also the site of the largest of the LMA shows. This museum is located at Breighton, near Selby, Yorkshire. It was some good displays and a collection of WWII aircraft. The site describes the Trust and illustrates some of the collection. One of the great aircraft and car collections of the world, which is famous for its regular flying displays. Located at Old Warden Park in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Operated by volunteers from the Solway Aviation Society. The society owns nine aeroplanes - the most prominent being an Avro Vulcan bomber. Located at Carlisle Airport, Carlisle, Cumbria. This museum depicts the history of aviation in the Solent and Hampshire areas. The Museum tells the story of 26 aircraft companies, the largest flying boat operation in the world and the legendary Spitfire designed at Supermarine in the heart of the City of Southampton. Tangmere Military Aviation Museum The Museum houses a unique collection of exhibits relating to this famous "Battle of Britain" airfield, and aviation in general. WW11 fighter aces, Douglas Bader, "Johnnie" Johnson and Neville Duke are celebrated here. Large collection of airworthy WWII aircraft based at Duxford, UK. Popular for the Halifax restoration project. Located at Elvington, York. French site that does restoration projects, has lots of interesting pictures and data.
